Born and raised in Canada, Shona-Alicia Smithers-Gardereau has studied dance since she can
remember. A graduate of L’Ecole Supérieure de danse du Québec and Les ateliers de danse moderne de Montréal, she has also practiced others related disciplines such as stretching, somatic education and auto-massage. Very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with many renowned teachers and choreographers of movement. In 2010, following her own personal Pilates practice since 1994, she decided to pursue a career as a certfied mat and apparatus instructor. Since, Shona Alicia has accompanied her clients in coping with many different pathologies. Fascinated by efficient movement and by the injury prevention and rehabilitation methods Pilates has to offer, Shona-Alicia aims to help develop a better sense of movement and body awareness through her work, so that everybody may benefit from the practice of optimal posture in their daily lives and activities.
